Abstract

This study aims to spot the difference in learning motivation between males and females and its impact on language achievement. To these ends, the observation research tool was adopted in order to yield more accurate, objective and reliable results. The sample of this research comprised 103 male and female third year middle school pupils. They were all pupils at Alawa Bentalha Middle School in Zéghaia, Mila province, Algeria. The analysis of the collected data revealed that motivation to learn does differ between male and female pupils due to many factors which lead either to improving or to hindering their language achievement.
