Abstract

The study aims to know the effect of foreign direct investment on economic growth in Algeria, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, during the period: 2000-2019, Given that this period included many economic development lans, and each of these countries issued legislations and laws and gave Guarantees and incentives in order to ttract more foreign direct investment.In order to measure the effect of foreign direct investment on economic growth in each of the countries under study, we have used both analytical approach and econometric methods by applying the simple linear regression model. The Results showed that there is a long run relationship between the study variables, but we have found that there is a negative impact of foreign direct investment on economic growth in Algeria, and a positive effect of FDI on economic growth in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia.The study concluded that there is a need for reorientation of foreign direct investments towards the various sectors which have a positive impact on growth in Algeria, in particular the non-oil sectors, by giving a specific importance to the human resource as a necessity for technology transfer.
