Abstract: The objective of this work was to undertake an inventory of scavenger insects and to determine the influence of abiotic factors (temperature and humidity) on the activity of scavenger insects in the process of corpse decomposition. To achieve this objective, a rabbit corpse wase xposed to the open air during the spring season. During the monitoring, five stages of decomposition were observed. The insects were collected at various stages of decomposition. Our study was carried out at the Laboratory of Biochemistry and Ecology of Arthropods, Abd el HafidBoussouf-Mila University Center There was a diverse succession of scavenging insects. A total of 175 specimens were captured, divided into 7 families. Diptera of the Calliphoridae family were the first and predominant colonizers. Calliphoridae belonging to the genus Lucilia (green flies) are more active in warm seasons (spring, summer) and most abundant on the body, with a total of 103 specimens. The insect species associated with the corpse vary according to abiotic factors (temperature and humidity) ; were corded a wide variation in these factors during the 15-day survey The results obtained in this study can help us improve our fundamental knowledge of scavenging insects and their use in forensic medicine and scientific police to estimate the postmortem time of corpses.
