Abstract: This work concerns the phytochemical and biological study of an aromatic plant belonging to the Pinaceae family: Cedrus atlantica, harvested from Chélia National Park (Batna). The aerial part (needles) was macerated in ethanol/water (8:2) followed by extraction with solvents of different polarities to extract secondary metabolites. The results obtained from phytochemical screening of the AcOEt extract indicate the presence of the main secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, phenols, tannins, and saponins; however, terpenoids and quinones are absent. The total polyphenol content of the AcOEt extract was determined using the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, (123.7±8.64) mg EAG/g. The results obtained reveal the antibacterial activity of the EtOAc extract against Gram-positive bacteria, and significant antimicrobial activity against two Gram-negative strains: Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. It also demonstrates strong resistance against the Enterobacter strain. In vitro testing of antioxidant activity using the DPPH method showed that antioxidant power was proportional to the increase in the concentration of the ethyl acetate extract, with an IC50 of 95.33 μg/ml.
