Abstract

This research explores the image of the self and the other in the poetry of Al-Rabi' ibn Abi Al-Haqiq—a thematic study. We studied the poetry of Al-Rabi' ibn Abi Al-Haqiq, extracted the image of the self and the other in the poet, and explored the subject and the relationship between them. We employed the thematic approach because it combines description and interpretation and follows the minor and major themes in the literary work. This is the appropriate approach for our research topic. I divided the title into four chapters, preceded by an introduction and an introduction in which we addressed the concept of the self and the other. We then extracted images of the self and the other in "Al-Rabi' ibn Abi Al-Haqiq." We then extracted the image of the self among the Jews, followed by the image of the other among the Jews. We then delved into the chapters. The first chapter, titled "Manifestations of the Self and the Other in the Poetry of Al-Rabi' ibn Abi Al-Haqiq," was divided into three sections. The first section, titled "Depiction and In-Depth Embodiment of the Personality of the Self and the Other in the Poetry of Al-Rabi' ibn Abi Al-Haqiq," extracted the characters of the self and the other in Al-Rabi' ibn Abi Al-Haqiq's poetry. The second section, titled "The Relationship between the Self and the Other in the Poetry of Al-Rabi' ibn Abi Al-Haqiq," addressed the relationship between the self and the other. The third section, titled "Embodying Some Aspects of the Other in the Poetry of Al-Rabi' ibn Abi Al-Haqiq," extracted images of women, children, the people, and the satirized other." The second chapter, titled "Language and Style," discussed two topics: the first, "Nominal Structures," where we defined them, extracted their types, and presented examples of the poet's poems, extracting nominal structures from them. The second, "Verbal Structures," where we extracted and defined them, presented examples of the poet's poems, and extracted verbal structures from them.The third chapter, titled "Artistic Imagery (Rhetoric)," discussed three topics: the first, "Metaphor," where we defined metonymy, presented examples of some poems, and extracted existing metonymies from them. The second, "Metaphor," where we defined metonymy, presented examples of some poems, and extracted existing metaphors. The third, titled "Simile," where we defined it, explained its types, and presented examples of some poems, extracting similes from them.The fourth chapter, titled "Poetic Music," discussed some concepts (poetic music, internal music, external music, meter, and rhyme). We then presented examples of some of the grammatical errors and defects found in the poet's poems. Then we concluded our research with a conclusion in which we monitored the most important results we reached after studying the topic.
