Abstract: Laila al-Akhiliya, the Umayyad poet who used her poetry to represent the voice of women in historical periods that were dominated by masculinity. Characterised by boldness, sincerity of emotion and strength of xpression, Laila was able to impose her presence in ancient literature in general and feminist literature in 70 particular, despite the circumstances, challenges and dominant patriarchal paradigms, thus transcending the traditional moulds.
