Abstract

This study aims to examine and describe the reality of teaching linguistic modules in general, and the module of general linguistics in particular in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the University Center of Mila. This research revealed the problems which face teaching and learning this module and the causes leading to the underachievement of its vocabulary. A large number of students do not care to attend lectures because they find it hard to understand so they do not prepare their research and lessons in the required manner in addition to the absence of some means that help teachers in teaching it, or the absence of mentoring. This indicates the feeling of non-specialists. All of these factors made the level of students below average.
