Abstract

Our studydealtwith an important topic, whichis the intertextuality in the novel "FragmentedMirrors" by Abd al-Malik Murtad. This studystartedwith an introduction followed by twochapters. The first chapterisentitledwith a definitionTerminology of the study deals with the concept of intertextuality, its importance, characteristics, patterns and types. As for the second chapter, wetried to extract the types of intertextuality in the novel, soweextractedQuranicintertextuality, literaryintertextuality, popularintertextuality, and historicalintertextuality. Finally, we came to the conclusion thatintertextualityis an inevitablenecessityimposed by the literary reality, and the creator has no escape fromit. Wealsoconcludedthatthisnovelis "fragmentedmirrors" mixed with a group of textsthatindicate the wide culture of the narrator, and hisknowledge of various arts.
