La traduction des termes religieux et légitimes dans le Saint Coran en langue française. Étude comparative.

Abstract

In this research study titled "Translation of Religious and Legitimate Terms in the Holy Quran: A Comparative Study," our objective is to explore how two translators, Muhammed Hamidullah and Denise Masson, have translated Islamic terms in the Quran. The research is divided into two main parts: the theoretical part, titled "Religious and Legitimate Terms in the Holy Quran and the Challenges of Translation," where we discuss various foundational concepts related to our research, including a brief history of Quran translation into foreign languages (particularly French), the prohibition and permissibility of Quran translation, the challenges of translating Quranic texts and specific religious and legitimate terms, as well as techniques for translating small units such as individual words, expressions, and phrases.In the practical part, we first analyze the corpus, which includes the biographies of the two translators and an examination of the form and content of their translations. Subsequently, we analyze the translation of religious and legitimate terms in the French language, aiming to identify the techniques employed and explore the proposed equivalents. Finally, we conclude the research by addressing the problem statement and the questions posed in the introduction.
