Abstract: The current study explores the learning strategies created by autonomous learners whilst studying independently and whether they succeeded in becoming autonomous learners. A mixed research method has been employed, where a questionnaire and an interview were conducted with Master One students of English at Mila University Centre. The findings revealed that the students have developed learner autonomy and that most of them take charge of their learning through various strategies acquired inside and outside of the lassroom. Despite all the challenges they confronted, their autonomy was progressively built through years of academic education and the support of their teachers, who encouraged them to become autonomous. herefore, this study accentuates the need for students to acquire learning strategies to become self-dependent and the need for the educational system to encourage learners to become masters of their learning.
