Description: | This course covers the fundamental topics necessary for a thorough understanding of the qualitative theory of ordinary di erential equations and the concept of dynamical systems. It is specifically tailored for first-year master’s students. The course begins with an introduction to linear systems of ordinary di erential equations, a topic that students who have completed a basic course in di erential equations are likely familiar with. Chapter 1 presents an e ective method for solving any linear system of ordinary di erential equations. The core focus of the course is on nonlinear systems of ordinary di erential equations and dynamical systems. Given that most nonlinear di erential equations cannot be solved analytically, the course prioritizes the qualitative or geometric analysis of such systems. This perspective, pioneered by Henri Poincaré in the late 19th century, integrates modern dynamical system concepts, emphasizing the structural and functional properties of solution sets in nonlinear di erential equations. The main objective of this course is to examine the qualitative characteristics of di erential equation solutions, including invariant sets and the asymptotic behavior of the flows or dynamical systems defined by these equations 4 |
