dc.descriptionThis study aims to determine teachers’ perceptions of the importance of teaching civic education to secondary school students. It intends to see wether the Competency-Based Approach (CBA) is concerned with civic education, and to explore teachers’ perceptions of the implementation of civic education within the school curriculum. To determine teachers’ perceptions, this study is based on a questionnaire designed for secondary school teachers of English in some high schools in Mila, specifically in Rouached, Ahmed Rachdi, Zghaya, and Mila. Findings revealed that teachers have realized the importance of teaching citizenship at secondary schools. Moreover, the CompetencyBased Approach is actually concerned with civic education in the sense of shared teaching principles. Findings also suggested solution for the improvement of civic education. The later is implemented within the school’s curriculum but an indirect way and through other subjects as in EFL classed, nevertheless, it needs further developments.en_US
