Abstract: | Teaching is a noble mission in which the teacher transmits knowledge and values to the learner within an institutional framework, the school, which constitutes the basic architecture of this process. Teaching is seen as a job, but also as an art and a vocation that demands constant intellectual and physical effort. However, this profession is not exempt from adverse health effects that can affect the teacher in the performance of his or her duties. These effects are classified as “occupational illnesses”, often invisible or insufficiently recognized. In this context, a field study was carried out in the wilaya of Mila, involving a sample of 565 teachers from 46 educational establishments at different levels (primary, middle and secondary). The results revealed that the teachers suffered from a variety of common illnesses, including joint and locomotor disorders, as well as psychological and neurological disorders linked to the nature of their teaching work. |
