This study explores the poem by Abu Tammam in praise of the minister Ibn al-Zayyat, which is considered an artistic model of panegyric poetry in the Abbasid era. The research aims to define the concept of praise both linguistically and terminologically, and to introduce the poet and the praised figure. The study concludes with an artistic analysis of the poem in terms of language, style, and rhetorical imagery, in order to highlight the artistic features found in Abu Tammam’s poetry — including the strength of language, depth of meaning, and richness of figurative expressions. The study adopts a descriptive analytical approach and reveals the uniqueness of Abu Tammam’s style, which is characterized by profound meanings and intensive use of rhetorical imagery such as simile, metaphor, and metonymy. These elements gave the poem a distinctive character. The poem also reflects values prominent in the Abbasid era, such as generosity, wisdom, and support for scholars — qualities that were clearly embodied in Ibn al-Zayyat, as vividly depicted by the poet in his work.en_US
