Abstract

This research; which is entitled "The Fragmentation of Identity in the Novel of the Mirror of the Soul" by "Nabila Abboudi", aims to discuss the concept of identity, its fragmentation and cleavage in the novel. In fact, since man became conscious of his identity in relation to his ego and his existence on the surface on this earth, the question "Who am I? Who am I really? Are the main questions that has been continually raised in the fields of Ancient and contemporary human philosophies and epistemologies? This is because identity is the collection of features that distinguishes one thing from another, a person from another or a group from others. The novel's characters' identities, which were torn apart by social and psychological circumstances, between identity and non-identity, between the past and the present, and between the comfort of home and the savagery of strangement, served as an embodiment of the shattered identity. This prevented the novel's characters from understanding both their many allegiances and the other's rejection of them.
