Abstract

Spelling is one of the cornerstones of French language teaching. In Algerian schools and universities, spelling plays an important role from primary school onwards. However, a large proportion of schoolchildren have taken to using words from spoken language to write a text teeming with erroneous words. Knowing that it is from primary school onwards that the learner is supposed to learn to write and read, and since we are concentrating on the french language in primary school, we object, through this work, to carry out research into the use of spelling in the primary cycle and on spelling errors in the written productions of 5th PY pupils, and to propose solutions.
